“May your magic continue to weave its spell on all who live and visit here.”

By Nancy Sanders

Ghost towns, schools and teachers, churches, early pioneers, and a community working together are the elements that made yesterday’s village of Mesick survive. It started with a simple life in a tiny village struggling along with the growing pains of a small settlement until it grew into something that the citizens could be proud to have.  Situated at the crossroads of two main highways, with the Manistee River nearby it offers the tourist trade a great place to stop and sit a spell.  Reminisce through the book with the locals and enjoy the sun while seated on Mesick’s main street benches.  With all the advantages it has had Mesick matured into a successful village unlike other ghost towns surrounding it.
