DESCRIPTION:Mckensey Kendall is a Mesick alum in her third year at The School of the Art Institute ofChicago where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Now a published poet and accomplishedpainter\, Mckensey has dedicated her work to capturing the magic of mundanity in the ruralmidwest.In the past months\, Mckensey has focused her artistic practice on the photographic archive ofMesick farm owner and lumberyard manager\, Harold Rossell (1900-1973.) Consisting of pencildrawings\, oil paintings\, 35mm photography\, and photopolymer prints\, the artist has developed asprawling collection of vignettes dedicated to Rossell’s archive and the unwavering landscapesof rural Michigan. Mckensey will present the body of work to the museum while divulging hercreative process and the ways her research into Harold Rossell served to define her paintingpractice.
